Changing Seasons Bring a Changing Menu

The weather is changing.  It seems like just yesterday it was all we could do to keep cool.  Now we are eyeing the fireplace at Happy Cabin, wondering if it’s time to cozy up.  As the seasons change, so does the menu.  Grilled food and salads give way to warm soups and stews from the slow cooker, casseroles and tagines made with the last summer veggies, and warm, baked desserts, like pies and crumbles.  We dust off Grandma Joyce’s recipe for baked macaroni and cheese, stock up on hot cocoa and fragrant teas, and crave warm foods for breakfast, like overnight oats and fruit-studded waffles.  What are your favorite autumn recipes?  I am craving something healthy but stick-to-the ribs filling, satisfying but not “too much,” food to fuel a shoulder season adventure.
