History in the Making

established in 1966

Happy Cabin has that timeless feel, because it truly is a classic. This traditional log cabin has been a fixture at the second hole of the historic Old Brockway Golf Course since 1966.  Built in 1926, at the height of the “Roaring 20s,” the Old Brockway Golf Course is a special place with lake views from every hole, a rich past, and a relaxed vibe.  Back in the day, it was a “Rat Pack” playground, enjoyed by Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and Rita Hayworth. Today, the course remains a Lake Tahoe favorite. In warm weather, the course bustles with wildlife and golfers admiring the forest and lake views.  When it snows, it’s transformed into a winter wonderland.

The name "Happy Cabin" comes from the sign above the front door, which has been there for as long as we know.  The name fits.  This is a carefree and joyful place, for spending quality time together and making memories.

This is our family’s second home, a happy escape from the bustle of everyday life. It is kid-friendly and pet-friendly, so that everyone can be together. When we can’t be at Happy Cabin, we like to share it with friends and family. We look forward to sharing it with you.

The Happy Cabin blog is another place for us to gather. Our blog evokes what Happy Cabin means to us—family, friendship, travel, adventure, food, design, books, photography, experience, people and memories. Join us as we share stories about Tahoe life, cabin life, happy life.

Warmly,

Heather & Family
